Steal a Chicken Beginner Guide: Your First Hour
Steal a Chicken looks chaotic for the first five minutes and then settles into a very clear loop. This guide walks through the first hour the way the September 2026 gameplay videos played it, with the numbers they hit along the way.
The loop
- Steal a chicken from a nest and run it home before the Guard catches you.
- Pen it: the chicken lays eggs on a timer.
- Sell the eggs at the Merchant.
- Train Speed on the treadmill and buy upgrades with the Cash.
- Use the extra Speed to steal from better nests. Repeat.
The official description adds two twists: you can bat other thieves to make them drop their chicken, and new chickens appear every night.
Controls
- Steal: walk into a nest and use the prompt (E on PC, the on-screen button on mobile and tablet).
- Bat: swing at other players carrying a chicken to knock it loose.
- Collect: one button at your base collects every finished egg.
- Shop: the button on the left side of the screen; codes are at the very bottom.
The game supports PC, mobile, tablet and console, with up to five players per server.
The tutorial
The game starts you in a safe zone and points you to your first nest. Steal the chicken, bring it back and place it in your pen; the arrow then guides you to the Merchant for your first Sell All. In the September 7 guide run that first sale was only $762, which is normal. It grows quickly.
Your first 10 minutes
- Redeem the codes. Release is 100K Cash on its own, which pays for your first two treadmill upgrades. See the codes page.
- Like the game and join the group. The official description promises +10K Speed for it.
- Stand on the treadmill between steals. You can go AFK or play the mini-games (Flappy Chicken, Egg Rush, Perfect Hit).
- Buy the Grey trail ($25K, x1.5 Speed per step) as soon as you can.
What to buy first
Speed first, pen second, everything else later. In order:
| Purchase | Price | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Grey trail | $25K | Cheapest Speed multiplier |
| Treadmill Level 2 | $10K | More Speed per step |
| Treadmill Level 3 | $100K | +25 Speed per step |
| Pen upgrade | $10K, then $1M | More chickens, more eggs |
| Blue trail | $100K | Doubles Speed per step |
In the CHALLS run, this order took Speed from about 700 to 5,000 in a few minutes, which opens the Zombie Chicken nests. Prices and multipliers are explained in the Speed guide.
Picking chickens
Every nest shows a recommended Speed and each chicken shows a weight. Steal from nests at or below your Speed, and between two safe options take the heavier chicken, since its eggs sell for more. The how to steal guide covers the run itself and the chickens list shows what has been seen where.
Free extras
- Daily spin. One free spin a day, plus another for watching a short ad.
- Index. Claim rewards from the Index as you collect new chickens.
- Relax code. A temporary Speed boost; save it for a long training session.
Mistakes that slow new players down
- Buying pen slots before Speed. A bigger pen full of starter chickens barely earns more.
- Stealing above your Speed. A dropped chicken is worth nothing; train two more minutes instead.
- Leaving eggs uncollected. Full eggs do not sell themselves; collect and sell before long AFK sessions.
- Mixing up games. Steal an Egg and Steal a Chicken Egg to Fight are different Roblox games; their codes and numbers do not work here.
Once the basics are down, the zones page shows how far there is to go, and the Divine Quest page covers the September 12 event.
